Well, there is a simple way of finding out if your iPhone is GSM or CDMA as all you have to do is have a look at the model number of your iPhone.


Just flip your iPhone to have a look at the model number and compare it to the Model Numbers given below to find out if your iPhone is GSM or CDMA,

GSM iPhone Models:
  • iPhone 5: A1429 (* World GSM & CDMA)
  • iPhone 5: A1428
  • iPhone 4S: A1387 (* dual band CDMA & GSM world phone)
  • iPhone 4S: A1531 (GSM China)
  • iPhone 4: A1332
  • iPhone 3GS: A1325 (GSM China)
  • iPhone 3GS: A1303
  • iPhone 3G: A1324 (GSM China)
  • iPhone 3G: A1241
  • iPhone 2G: A1203
CDMA iPhone Models:
  • iPhone 5: A1429 (* World GSM & CDMA)
  • iPhone 4S: A1387 (* dual band CDMA & GSM world phone)
  • iPhone 4: A1349
If you live in the US, then there is another simple way of finding out your iPhone’s model number. AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM phones, while Verizon and Sprint are always CDMA based. If you have bought an unlocked iPhone, then it will be a GSM one.
