TiVo Stream plays your DVR shows on iPad, iPhone.TiVo Stream works with the iPad, iPhone and newer iPod touch models. A TiVo spokesman said an Android-compatible app is in the works.

Can TVs connected to recent TiVo digital video recorders can already play back programs recorded on other TiVos on a home network and now, a new tool TiVo allows you to watch live or recorded TiVo content on a network-connected iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch—without disable playback on the TiVo-connected TV set.

The TiVo Stream also lets you download recorded programs for offline viewing on an iOS 5 device running a new version of the TiVo app. As before, the app lets you view the TiVo program guide, set or delete recordings, and use the iOS device as a TiVo remote.

When the streaming video device becomes available for purchase during early September, the TiVo Stream will be priced at $130. Unlike the TiVo Premiere box, there’s no additional fee required to activate the set-top box. However, users will need to own a TiVo Premiere box ranging from $149.99 to 399.99 in addition to paying for TiVo service. Service costs $14.99 per month along with an entire commitment for a year. However, new users can also choose to pay $499 for a lifetime fee. Along with distributing the new TiVo Stream set-top box on the TiVo site, interested consumers will also be able to find the device at Best Buy.
