New Redsn0w Update Gives Users Ability To Select Jailbreak Method

The iPhone Dev Team has released a new redsn0w update. The latest redsn0w update allows users the ability to use jailbreak method through which redsn0w will jailbreak their device. The method can either be the limera1n bootrom exploit or rocky-racoon userland exploit for iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak.

Redns0w was recently updated after the Chronic Dev Team released Absinthe 2.0 for iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak. The latest jailbreak employs use of rocky-racoon userland exploit which is capable of jailbreaking iOS 5.1.1 untethered on New iPad, iPhone 4S, and all other supported iOS devices.

The iPhone Dev Team explains the latest redsn0w update on their blow as follows:
Starting with version 0.9.12b2, redsn0w will now explicitly ask users with limera1n-able devices whether they want to inject rocky-racoon using the DFU ramdisk method or the backup/restore method (the ramdisk method is better for those with lots of media on their device that would create very large backups, and it’s required for those with unactivated iPhones). If you’ll always want to use limera1n, you can select that in the Preferences pane. It also fixes an iBooks issue on old-bootrom 3GS iPhones, and provides more useful error messages when things go wrong.
The latest jailbreak release is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G, original iPad, iPad 2, New iPad and Apple TV 2G. At this point in time, there is no support for the latest third generation Apple TV.
