Dictation is one of the new features that Apple released in iOS 5. It is a great feature nonetheless, but for some users it becomes a cause of nuisance if they hit the Dictation key by mistake. This tutorial will teach you how to turn off Dictation on your iPhone 4S and iPad.

Dictation is a nifty new feature in iOS 5 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This feature automatically converts speech to text. Dictation is pretty good at converting user's speech to text, however it does run in to problems if the user's accent is different from that of a native speaker.

So how can one turn off Dictation once and for all on iPhone 4S and iPad? Follow the steps given below:

1. Launch Settings.app
2. Tap on General
3. Tap on Keyboard and located Dictation
4. Toggle Dictation OFF from ON
5. Upon prompt, tap on Turn Off

You will be prompted with the following note once you turn Dictation off: "The information Dictation uses to respond to your requests will be removed from Apple servers. If you want to use Dictation later, it will take time to re-send this information." It's just a rather self explanatory note, nothing to worry about.
