The jailbreak community is anxiously awaiting the release of iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak. Work has been going on it since a couple of months now. Earlier this week it was confirmed that the jailbreak is almost complete for public release. Now it is expected that iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak release will take place over this weekend.

The jailbreak will be implemented in Absinthe jailbreak utility which was initially released to jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered on iOS 5.0.1. Now Absinthe 2.0 will be released possibly this weekend and it will bring iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Well known French iOS hacker Pod2g is the man behind this jailbreak. He has been hard at work for a couple of months now, and soon enough his work will be released to the public. Earlier today he tweeted that iPad3,3 support has been added to Absinthe 2.0. Now all that is delaying release is support for iPad2,4 which too will be added in the coming days, effectively leaving Absinthe 2.0 ready for public release.

It is largely expected that Pod2g will release this jailbreak at HITB SecConf 2012 in Amsterdam. The conference does make a great venue for release. We'll let you know as soon as iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is released.
