While owners of newer iOS devices were treated to a good news today that iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak release is coming soon, there is bad news for owners of iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3G and Apple TV 3G. It has been revealed that the upcoming iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak will not be supported by these devices due to some underlying issues.
Jailbreak developers are hard at work. The iPhone Dev Team, The Chronic Dev Team, Stefan Esser and Pod2g have all been working on developing a new jailbreak. However French jailbreak guru Pod2g has been ahead of the pack this time around as well and has been keeping the community in loop via updates. He recently revealed that iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak is working flawlessly on iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPad 2, New iPad, iPod touch 4G and Apple TV 2G.
iOS 5.1.1 untethered for the above mentioned devices is still far from release because the jailbreak has to be packaged in a user friendly tool. Sadly though, iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3G seems to be an off possibility right now because the kernel vulnerability isn't affecting these devices. Pod2g says that this might change, though he offers no guarantees.
