It seems that March can prove to be a big month for Apple and Apple fans around the world. Not only that March is touted to be the month Apple announces the iPad 3, successor to the hugely popular iPad 2, but also Apple would announce and release to the public, the latest version of its mobile operating system, i.e the iOS 5.1.
Apple seeded the betas of iOS 5.1 to developers back in January and the latest reports indicate that it could be released for general public by 9th March 2012. Now if all the chatter is to be believed, iOS 5.1 would be released simultaneously with the launch event of the iPad 3, which incidentally is also rumored to be held in the upcoming month of March.
The cause of all this speculation has been due to the discovery of an indicated release date of March in one of the carrier profiles as can be seen in the screenshot above.
When iOS 5 was released a couple of months back it was the last major overhaul of the iOS operating system. Now iOS 5 has been notorious for not being to properly handle battery management on the iPhone 4s, and has been a cause of frustration for the iPhone 4S users. iOS 5.0.1 was released as an answer for this problem but failed to correctly address it. So let’s hope that iOS 5.1 would finally lay to rest the battery woes of iPhone 4S users.
So to all our readers, whether the iOS 5.1 gets released in March or not, make sure that you save your SHSH blobs so that you may be able to downgrade your iPhone for jailbreaking purposes, as an immediate jailbreak for iOS 5.1 would most probably not be available.
