Palm developers have been given a new lifeline. StyleTap's new iOS Wrapper is allowing developers to submit their old Palm OS apps at the Apple's App Store. But whether Apple will accept the submission is still a query.
It works like this :
“StyleTap Platform for iPhone® cannot currently be purchased through the Apple App Store because it provides capabilities (e.g.the ability to download other Palm applications) that are restricted by Apple. The StyleTap iOS Wrapper SDK allows you as a Palm application developer to create an iPhone (iOS) application that “wraps” a Palm application inside StyleTap Platform for iPhone in a way that removes all of the restricted capabilities. You can then submit the resulting iPhone application to be included in the Apple App Store.”Developers will be provided a StyleTap Platform for non-jailbroken iPhones through a template Xcode project . This will also contain instructions on configuring apps to submit to Apple. StyleTap doesn't guarantee that Developers will have the submitted apps accepted. And they still will have to be the part of Apple's Developer Program. Developers will have to build an iOS app after they throw their .prc and .pdb Plam application along with the license info into the StyleTap platform. This will also allow organizations to deploy Plam apps to those devices that are not jailbroken and those apps have no requirements to submit to Apple.
