1 in 10 US mobile phone users have an iPhone

A research firm by the name of comScore has conducted a survey to show that about 1 in 10 mobile users in the US have an Apple iPhone. The survey was released on Friday and over 30,000 U.S.-based cellphone users were surveyed. The survey also found that 234 million Americans age 13 and older used mobile devices by the end of October.



iPhone 4S has no doubt boosted the market share of Apple a lot after it went on sale on October 14. The results show that for three month period that ended in October, Apple remained number 4 handset maker in the US. The market share of Apple rose to 10.8 percent from 9.5 percent in the last three months. Among the top five mobile brands in the US Apple is the only brand whose market share rose in the last quarter.

Samsung is still the top mobile phone maker in the US with 25.5 percent of the total US mobile subscribers followed by LG with 20.6 percent share and Motorola with 13.6 percent share taking the 2nd and third place in the US mobile phone market. Blackberry ranks No. 5 with a share of 6.6 percent.

According to the survey, except Apple market share of the above mentioned four brands has decreased or has remained unchanged in the last quarter.

When it comes to mobile operating systems rather than mobile phone manufacturers Android by Google has seen an overall increase too.
