HELLO I MADE A MISTAKE OR SOMETHING. I HAVE ALL THE FILES, READY ON , BUT WHEN I TRY TO CHOOSE A IPSW IT SAYS SOMETHING LIKE DOESNT SUPPORT WITH THIS VERSION OF REDSNOW AND ERROR ON FINGERPRINT OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT... HELP PLEASE

Have to change the .zip to .ipsw for it to work. For some reason, windows changes file to .zip. Enjoy

I am having the same issue. It Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 says it doesnt support this version.

Well, here it is,... now the 27th and still no definitive answer. RedSn0w says its not a supported IPSW and thats that.

doesnt matter, just change file extention from *.zip to *.ipsw

even your current version is 5.0.1. use 5.0 ipsw. it will works

Ok guys, figured it out. its a lot more simple than it seems.

After running the jailbreak, when but before rebooting using "Just boot" to tethered your iPhone, you need to click "Select IPSW" again and specify to ios 5.0 IPSW (same one you used for the jailbreak) again. Then go back and chose just boot and it should be sorted.

It took me ages to figure this out. hopefully it works for you all too.

Mine will not "just boot" after jailbreaking. Clean install of 5.0.1, using 5.0 through redsn0w. It goes through the boot process, the pineapple logo shows, but then it goes into a quick loop between the apple boot logo and a spinning circle.

Its probably because 5.0.1 has a second release which is not supported yet. Recently 5.0.1 was updated and pushed out from Apple with no change in the version number.

All you guys who said anything like "this don't work" are all illiterate wankers. READ or find someone else to jailbreak for you.

It takes the same amount of time and is a guaranteed .ipsw file and also will be placed in the correct folder.

people here do not read... do not download the files in ie use firefox or chrome and it will be ispw..

I'm not sure why you all are having issues. I just jailbroken my Iphone 4 GSM. I downloaded iPhone3_1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.zip, then I changed the extension name to .ipsw so it should read as iPhone3_1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw, then I downloaded and used redsn0w_win_0.9.10b3.

Now here's the step by step.
1. Run redsnow
2. Go to extras, select ipsw and locate the file iPhone3_1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw
3. In Redsnow, Go back and click jailbreak
follow the steps. You should be good.

When restoring it says It cant be restore. Error unknown (10)

donloaded ipsw file, opened redsn0w-extras-select ipsw,back to "boot",ran the hole process, pinapple logo appears on phone screen,"process will continue on youre phone" message appears on pc, phone turns back on nothing happens, no cydia app appears . is there anything im missing? thanks
