According to a report, the production for the display panel for iPad 3 has started. Apple is shifting the production of iPhone 5 and iPad 3 displays to Sharp in Japan. Apple had contacted 3 large manufacturers for the production of the displays for their upcoming devices but Sharp is gaining iPad 3 displays share while Samsung is losing the favor.

Misek said in an interview about Sharp:
"It's a huge deal for Sharp because they spent significant amounts of capital to try and expand capacity and upgrade their facilities. It gives Apple a partner that they can control, with manufacturing and secure supply at a lower price."
Many Large television manufacturers like Samsung are wandering what Apple TV will look. Apple is planning to take a production line at Sharp's Sakai facility to produce a modified version of TFT displays and will probably begin commercial production of iTV in February.

Apple has bought about 1 billion dollars in equipment for the production and is taking exclusive hold of the Sharp factory for the production of iPhone and iPad displays.

It is confirmed that iPad 3 will offer a Retina Display with a crisp resolution of 2048×1536 pixels. This resolution is a quantum leap over iPad 2 which had an average resolution of 1024x768 pixels.
