i0n1c tweeted early this morning that Apple had fixed the internal overflow for MALLOC inside ios5. This could be mean a longer wait. Apple is due to put out bug fix for IOS5 soon. Lets hope that no betas have been leaked exposing the vulnerabilities before the Dev guys can push out an untether. The fact that they released another tethered update last friday and Big Boss reimplemented the SemiTether, makes me think they are still a ways off. Nobody is really talking and i0n1c claimed a few days ago that he was not working on it. Musclenerd on the otherhand, has said that he doesnt know when it will be released, but to be patient because one is coming. Nothing from Posixninja or notcom... All anyone can do is wait... I'm very sure they have a good reason for not releasing an untethered jailbreak as of yet. I happen to be one of the lucky ones as my 3GS has the old boot rom so it's already untethered on IOS 5 but can't wait to update my iPad to an untethered jailbreak. These guys know what there doing and oh yea, they do have lives outside of hacking! They have never disappointed and will eventually release a quality untethered version so just be patient!

The people from dev-team just wanna make the graphics look nice when your jailbreaking untethered .. that's one of the reasons it takes long... i don't mind if it's just a cmd file or some script file that you start...i'm talking for all people that are waiting for this ... just provide the RAW version of the jailbreak...and secure it with some kind of encryption so non-hackers can't claim it theirs (encrypting a 2 GB script file takes just a few hours) and we are all happy

The untethered jailbreak will be out once Apple releases one of there many updates to fix some of the issues with iOS 5. We might need to look on one of the many websites for updates. Probably safe to say the second week of November.

Apple has stated that it will be updating the firmware to deal with certain bugs. To release an untethered version and have it patched would be pointless. This being said I would anticipate that the developers will wait and then release the untethered jailbreak. Patients is a virtue that seldom practice yet all have little of. Go read a book on jailbreaking and become proactive in the process.

Apple going to release patch to address battery and other issues. Publishing JB for iOS 5 would give Apple team a chance to cover up those exploits and we will be here again asking when the next untether JB would be coming. Hence it might be wise not to release the JB for ios 5.

It seems that there is a contract between Apple and hackers that hackers are able to go into Apple once they sell out all their iphones.

I am quite sure that their "good reason" for not publishing the untethered Jailbreak has to do with pressure/money from apple. This company is extremely rich and big...if they want to prevent a couple of hackers from Jailbreaking their devices, they can do it without any problem. I think Apple invests also a lot of money to control the public opinion and impressions on the web. Hello. I am a big fan of the jailbreak DEV TEAM. iOS 5 jailbreak(​untethered​) is an issue to think upon for hackers. As far as I know hacking is not an easy task . We really need to apply our brain on a wide platform in order to get things done. I hope that you understand what I am trying to say. As the technology advances there is more increased security for everything​. According to me Apple has got many nice engineers which come out with terrific ideas to prevent jailbreak and this JB TEAM has always come out with the counter ideas for jailbreaki​ng(untethe​red) for the iOS's till today(exce​pt4.3.5) which was not given an imptnce for jailbreak(​untethered​). But I still have faith in them and I feel that they should be given some time and I am sure that they will come out with the result (sooner or later). So heads up to them as jailbreaki​ng is their hobbie and not a business.

You guys really should stop complaining because they have not released an untethered jailbreak yet. There is more work that goes into this kind of thing than probably 98% of you can imagine. It's something that takes insane amounts of poring over code, controllers, models, etc.....just trying to find an exploit that will allow an untethered JB. Be happy that you have an iOS device on 5.0 with JB, tethered or not. When the teams working on this have tested it to the point that they cannot find any major bugs in their exploit, and no REALLY EASY vulnerabilities that Apple can patch to fix it again, I am sure they will release it to the masses. If they just leaked it now, you would all be crying because your iDevice was not acting right on an untethered JB, and completely shut down on you.

Long story short, quit crying or figure it out yourself!

Oh please if I was them I would have taken this long, for those who say the ios 5 was just released last month um nope your wrong since ios5 for developers was released more than 2 months ago so it's been quite a while now, maybe longer. They promised version 4.3.5 but only released a tethered version which is a pain in the azz since I can't be far away from my pc or make sure I don't let it die on me, if I have to reboot from a major Cydia app I'm screwed since I can't do that unless I'm home. It sucks and I have been suffering and waiting what seems more than 3 months now and I'm sick of waiting. I rather pay $30 for it shyt money isn't the problem and I heard there is a untethered jailbreak for iOS5 but u have to pay for it. I don't mind paying for it really it's just killing me inside that I can't update to iOS5 for the battery bug, I'm already running on 1ghz with ioverclock so the bug battery is completely going to oblitirate my battery and then I would feel like I have an android phone. I'm thinking of getting a Mophie juice plus battery case to fix my problem but for now I'm going to start making calls and see it there is truly an untethered jailbreak for iOS5 and if there is a battery bug then Cydia should soon release a patch for it since I know it's a software problem. I also heard that not all idevices are experiencing the same problem, then I wonder what the percentage affected by it? 90%? Cause I heard it's everywhere but for those who claim not to have the bug, are they lying? Idk I have some decisions to make until then I will do my googling (no Bing is shytty search engine, Bing and decide my azz) and see what I'm going to do until then sionara peeps.

Update: This dude from a repair shop told me there is a untethered jailbreak for iOS5 and is available for $15 plus unlocking is $15, idk if I'm going to do it but if it's going to kill my battery I think I spend my money more wisely on an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.2 since the battery issues should be gone by then.

I have to THANK YOU for at least this great help. I have already made a semi-untethered jailbreak and I am satisfied enough. For those of you, who had never made a jailbreak by themselves I would like to say - try it by yourselves = do a JB hack/exploit and show us how skilled and professional you are. This way (no matter about that this is just semi-tethered JB) is great. Apple is not trying to improve their iOS as a main goal, they are trying just to earn money, that is all, this is the reason for 4.3.4 and 5. I know Apple developers read this stuff everyday so here is a lil message to them. Now that the dictator is dead i hope you stop killing the expoits on your software. I agree that many people are using your software to do unlawful things but instead of lashing out on the entire grey community you should wage war against unlawful apps and the repositories that host them. I use my jailbreak within the confines of the law and have never exploited any software just to get it for free. I HOPE APPLE SOON REALIZES THE VALUABLE ASSET THAT IS THE JAILBREAK COMMUNITY. BECAUSE WITHOUT JAILBREAK, I'M GOING ANDROID! every member of my family has had every phone model available and multiples of most, plus ipods and ipads it would be a shame to leave apple ive spent thousands in the app store and hundreds in cydia. and to those who demand a jailbreak you should be thankful that it even exists and donate towards the cause. your probably just upset you cant download free app store apps, its people like you our community doesn't need.

no prison break for ipad2 ios 5.0 ?? i think the time has FINALLY come for me to give on on a prison break and try to sell this ipad 2 now and buy a cheaper more versatile android tablet, which will also incedently have usb/hdmi ports built in. sorry, apple, un-prison-broken the device is just too restrictive for me to keep. i suspect i am not alone in feeling this way.
