According to a FOSS Patents report, a preliminary injunction has granted by Apple barring Samsung from selling its Galaxy Tab 10.1 in all European countries except Netherland.

Apple claimed that the Samsung Galaxy Tab copies iPad and violated intellectual property rights owned by Apple. Apple requested Landgericht of Dusseldorf to have an eye on this case and order an injunction to Samsung. Under that injunction if any violation occurs then Samsung will be charged with monetary fines of up to EUR 250,000 and in the event of continued violation each of Samsung’s management will be imprisoned. Under German tort law, these are the standard sanctions for contempt of a preliminary injunction.

Apple requested a preliminary injunction in Australia and in response to that Samsung delayed the launch of Galaxy Tab 10.1 last week. The argument given by Samsung was that, the case of Apple in Australia addresses the U.S. version of its tablet device.
