Update 1: iOS 5 Final version has been released for Download and Jailbreak - Click Here
You might be aware that Apple released iOS 5 beta 5 to developers yesterday Since then many people have been asking about iOS 5 beta 5 tethered jailbreak release. In this post, we will update you on the status on iOS 5 beta 5 jailbreak release.
You would also know that MuscleNerd and the iPhone Dev Team have been busy attending DEF CON 19 hacker conference in Las Vegas, amongst other big iOS hackers and jailbreakers. So naturally, they have not been able to work on redsn0w 0.9.8 beta 5, which will be released for iOS 5 beta 5 jailbreak.
Apparently, you can not used redsn0w 0.9.8b4, which was originally released to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 4 tethered to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 5 by pointing it to the beta 4 ipsw. A report claims:
We launched redsn0w 0.9.8b4, selected the iOS 5 beta 5 ipsw and started the jailbreak process. It took a longer time than usual however the process did complete and we were taken to the Home screen which displayed a white Cydia icon. This usually happens after you run redsn0w to jailbreak iPhone, iPad or iPod touch tethered. So this meant that we had to do a tethered boot once redsn0w finished installing Cydia on our device. However, the device was unable to boot tethered further confirming our doubts that redsn0w 0.9.8b4 will not be able to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 5.Let's hope the iPhone Dev Team releases redsn0w 0.9.8b5 for iOS 5 beta 5 tethered jailbreak on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch really soon!
