Today, Apple not only released a software update for Apple TV 2G, it also updated iCloud, its new cloud based service available on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and iTunes which now adds support for re-downloading purchased TV episodes.
The Apple TV update allows users to stream purchased TV episodes, and in its iCloud update, Apple has expanded the Purchased section of iTunes on iDevices and iTunes for Windows and Mac to include re-downloads of previously purchased TV episodes.
With this update, purchased TV episodes get the iCloud treatment in which your purchased content is wirelessly synced across all your devices, if they are logged in using one Apple ID, that is. Apple has also changed iTunes terms and conditions, which is as follows:
Notification of an additional type of previously-purchased content that may be subsequently downloaded to certain computers and devices as an accommodation to you, subject to existing association rules; and that such content may be played back on certain devices that are not subject to existing association rules, with limitations.Regardless of the fact that this feature is amazing, please be sure to back up your content with iTunes on your computer in any case. Let's hope that purchased movies get the same iCloud treatment soon.
