Make certain you let iTunes upgrade you to 4.3.3 if you are not already. I was on 4.2.something and while I kept an eye on the instructions I thought I had bricked my 3GS. Thankfully I was capable to restore in iTunes

I have tethered jailbroken iphone 3gs(new bootrom) with IOS 4.2.1 and Base Band 6.15. Will this work for my phone? If not what should i do as i can not restore it back using itunes.Is custom firmware the only option i am left with?

the whole thing stopped when it came to rebooting

If the above does not work for you, then open Cydia and install Cydelete (this should be the first thing you install anyway). For me once I did that the Cydia icon appeared properly.

Hurra It works well. First u restore/update your ipod touch to 4.3.3 from itunes. Then download the iOS 4.3.3 for iPhone, iPad or iPod touch (download links at the end). Then run Redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 and there u browse and select the custom IPSW file u download from this link (http://www.limera1n.cc/2011/05/ios-433-firmware-ipsw-download-iphone.html). then follow the steps.

Finally install Appsync 4+ to sync cracked apps to your iphone

mates i jailbroke my iphone4 but after jailbreaking i have network problem.it says no service.

I'm glad that 586 people like this, but I do not believe that I am simply unable to follow the instructions provided. I ran into problem the first step.

When I tried restoring to "iPhone2,1_4.3.3_8J2_Restore" which is the linked file for iPhone 3GS, it extracts but says "The iPhone 'X' could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build." as it tried to verify the restore with Apple.

I also tried with the "iPhone3,1_4.3.3_8J2_Restore" file because, intuitively, that would be the correct one based on the little prior experience I had with a jailbreak attempt earlier, but it just doesn't work and give me "The iPhone 'X' could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible." straight away.

Any help please?

Is there any fix for iPhone battery life issue after jailbreaking on iOS 4.3.3? My iPhone battery drains faster than normal. Other communities have also experienced the same issue after they upgrade to this version regardless of they jailbroke thier iPhones or not.

Hi, I have an Iphone 3Gs which is running IOS 4.3.4. I’ve tried the latest redsnow 0.9.6rc16 and all seems to go well. The hard drive screen displays and then a lot of code on a black background, then finally the pineapple logo and loading bar. Then everything seems to finish happily and it reboots…straight back into the Apple logo, and at this point Itunes sees the Ipod and I have to restore and update again. Is there any way around this? Sadly I’m unable to downgrade the firmware either as I have no blobs and therefore receive the Itunes error 1394.

Hi, I have followed all the steps and jailbroken iphone 3gs(new bootrom) and unlocked using ultraSnow too. But, when it reboots it remains tethered. i.e I need to use redSnow to boot tethered. Not sure, why is this, I tried several times and on switchOff it gets into DFU mode. The baseband is 06.15. Any suggestions please. Thanks!

i am using redsnow 0.9.6rc16 i am following the written instructions above,however it stops on exploiting with limera1n and the progress bar freeze and wont allow to continue, any possible recommendation.

For the people that get a white cydia icon after installing the jailbreak, its normal it happened to me; all you need to do is reopen the redsnow-> open extras and choose "boot only"

@jimmy, that has happened to me before when i tried jailbreaking my ios 4.3.3 as well. All i can say is that i restored my iphone and then tried jailbreaking again and it worked afterwards; hopefully that could work.
