Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 released few minutes ago by iPhone dev-team to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 should fix any lingering issues with the boot animation.
The official change on the Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12:
Note: for who rely on unlock for their devices please STAY AWAY from Redsn0w and iOS 4.3.1 until the dev-team fix the ultrasn0w on iOS 4.3.1.
Download Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 (Windows)
Download Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 (Mac)
Download Redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 for Windows
Download Redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 for Mac
Download iOS 4.3.1 for all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Apple TV 2G
Download iTunes 10.2.1 for Windows / Mac OS X
Those running redsn0w may have noticed we enabled too many Settings options in some versions of the jailbreak (for instance, what you want your side switch to do, even if you have no side switch because you’re not using an iPad). ReleaseYou can follow our previous video guide posted here to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad using Redsn0w 0.9.rc12 for Windows and Mac.rc10rc12 of redsn0w corrects that (you can just run it over your existing jailbreak…be sure to de-select Cydia to avoid package conflicts).
Along the way, we’ve also added the option to enable boot animations…these animations can be installed via Cydia, but be sure to select which animation to use via the Settings->Bootlogo setting after you’ve downloaded an animation (and again, you can just runrc10rc12 over your existing jailbreak…be sure to de-select Cydia to avoid package conflicts).
(The boot animation we tested against was “Android Boot Logo”. It correctly installs all the dependencies needed to run the animation at each boot).
Note: for who rely on unlock for their devices please STAY AWAY from Redsn0w and iOS 4.3.1 until the dev-team fix the ultrasn0w on iOS 4.3.1.

So, I have an iPhone 4 running 4.1 already jailbroken. I want to update it to 4.3.1, but do not want to lose all my contacts and data, and by reading this post, I noticed that dev-team said I can run Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 to jailbreak over my old jailbreak.
I would love to know if that is true, installing and jailbreaking my iPhone 4 already jailbroken without losing any information. So if anyone could answer me if what Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 do is what I'm thinking it does, I would be very pleased.
Thanks since now!
I'm seeing a problem with the boot animations, even the built-in "spinning apple", and even a single static PNG image.
The result on my 4.3.1 iPad is that the image/animation is rendered rotated 90 degrees clockwise, and has its aspect ratio changed.
I've tried 768x1024 and 1024x1024 images.
Still ends up rotated and squished.
